Combining high end cabin design, motorsport derived engineering and certification, the pioneering AIRTEK lightweight premium aviation seating platform developed jointly by Williams Advanced Engineering, JPA Design and SWS Certification Services was the first product to be installed in the ADS digital cabin.
Stuart Olden, WAE’s Senior Commercial Manager, said: “When ADS told me about the Digital Cabin concept I thought it was a great idea. The Airtek seat is a pioneering product and in the virtual cabin environment people can interact with the seat and its functionality.”
The Airtek project is committed to driving down weight and emissions for tomorrow’s commercial aircraft.
The unique monocoque seat structure provides a tangible weight saving for airlines and delivers real benefits to passengers. It was recently selected as the top innovation in the sustainability category of the inaugural Transformation Honours List, presented by the Future Travel Experience.
The core focus of AIRTEK is a unique patented all composite monocoque structure resulting in less need for much of the traditional metallic under seat support structure. This reduces seat weight, aircraft fuel burn and associated carbon emissions for tomorrow’s commercial aircraft. It also allows AIRTEK to offer the largest volume of under seat storage space of any business class seat in the market.
